Phase 2 sites

Phase 2 of the project in 2021 is focused on sustain the ongoing initiatives at the pilot sites and enhance biodiversity components as well expanding to sharing of established community based biodiversity initiatives to new community sites within the network of FoKRB.

At least two (2) new communities or other target group to middle and downstream of Sg Klang basin are supported to duplicate last year’s success initiatives.

1. Midstream site: Sungai Penchala (Taman Rimba Kiara)

2. Downstream site: Sungai Klang (Taman Pengkalan Kampar)

A series of discussions were carried out with the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) on possible site visit and to discuss on the activities to be implements. Most of the discussion initially started off via telephone calls and WhatsApp discussion during the MCO 2.0. During the PWG 1/2021, En. Andi Sopyan bin Mohd Sidek from MPK Park and Recreational Department mentioned that Taman Pengkalan Kampar will be preferred for the initiatives as it is in line with MPK’s internal plan to re-develop and upgrade the area with the support of the local communities. MPK also mentioned that they acknowledged RIVER Ranger Sg Pinang Community group as the local champion at the site, empowering the communities and given them the ownership can be carried out through the SMART Partnership proposed under the project. In addition to establish the Sg Klang Downstream Open Classroom at the Taman Pengkalan Kampar and empowering the RIVE Ranger Sg Pinang as the facilitators and local point under the project, the following initiatives will be carried out in stages:
