Sg Kinta River Open Classroom
Objectives:
- To protect and preserve the source of Sg Kinta.
- To enhance existing river health of source.
- To provide practical training classroom for stakeholders and public.
- To support UKB Education hub establishment.
Establishment of Sg Kinta River Open Classroom
Sg Kinta River Open Classroom planned to be established at source of Sg Kinta. The location of the establishment of Sg Kinta Open Classroom is near the bio engineering site FT KM 45.9, Jalan Simpang Pulai Highway, Lojing (FT 1845) at the coordinate of 4°35'42.37" N101°20'55.94"E as per figure below. The establishment of Sg Kinta River Open Classroom (SKROC) will involve a range of local stakeholders with emphasis on Orang Asli (OA) communities mainly for its restoration works. Kg Pawong will be the community engaged and custodian for the SKROC.
- Project team has conducted a series of group consultations and site visit at the proposed area for the Sg Kinta River Open Classroom establishment.
- First site visit has been done on 9th February 2021 with the involvement of OA to gather and identified some information needed on 4 main learning stations for the establishment.
- 4 learning situations evaluated on second visit (20th February 2021) has been carried out to evaluate again the stations and on planning for restoration works
Baseline Information Collection
Overall WQI reported was 91 (Class II) with lesser benthic macroinvertebrates.
